What makes epoxy an appropriate choice for countertops, furniture, and crafts?Once cured, epoxy becomes exceptionally durable, ensuring longevity over many years. Bonded Resurfacing Countertop epoxy boasts exceptional resistance to scratches, chips, moisture, and high temperatures (up to 300 degrees), along with the highest-rated UVA protection available. This versatile material offers customizable finishes that mimic the appearance of natural stone like granite, marble, quartz, and wood, all at a fraction of the expense.
-
Does Bonded Resurfacing install countertops?A highly accomplished company specializing in full-service fabrication and installation of countertops. We tailor-make your countertops according to your preferred design finishes.
-
Is it safe to resurface countertops with epoxy?Unlike numerous epoxies available, Bonded Resurfacing Countertop Epoxy comprises solely 100% solids, FREE of solvents, ensuring zero VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and meeting green building material standards, thereby eliminating the necessity for specific personal protection equipment (PPE). Upon curing, it forms a non-porous surface, rendering it entirely antibacterial and food-grade, approved for utilization in both residential, restaurant and medical facility settings.
-
Should a topcoat be applied onto epoxy countertops?Yes. Bonded Resurfacing has a topcoat that provides an additional layer of protection to the epoxy. Our topcoat includes UV inhibitors and is suitable for commercial and residential applications which becomes food safe upon curing (7 days), stain resistant to most household chemicals and culinary items and is heat resistant to 300°F. We strongly advocate its use on all our epoxy countertops. The topcoat is available in two sheens: Natural (matte) and Semigloss.
-
On which surfaces can epoxy be applied?Bonded Resurfacing’s epoxy is suitable for application on a wide range of surfaces, including wood, laminate, natural stone, metal, and even glass.
-
How hard is it to maintain epoxy countertops?Epoxy is incredibly durable and, with proper care, can endure for many years. We advise handling your countertops with care, much like you would any other delicate surface in your home. Avoid cutting directly on the epoxy; instead, utilize a cutting board. It's recommended to use trivets or felt pads beneath heavy appliances and to place items such as crock pots, which emit prolonged heat, on a cutting board or placemat during use. Refrain from using harsh and abrasive cleaners; instead, opt for a solution of vinegar and water with a drop of dish soap in a spray bottle for everyday cleaning. If the countertops begin to appear dull or develop micro-scratches over time, a quick buffing can restore their luster.
-
How much time should elapse before I can put items on my countertop after it has been resurfaced with epoxy? You can start using the surface after 48 hours, but Bonded Resurfacing’s epoxy will continue to cure for 30 days to achieve its maximum hardness. We recommend small appliances should not be placed back on the countertop until it has fully cured. Occasionally, heavy objects may leave small marks on the countertop if left for an extended period. To remove these dents, use a blow dryer to warm the material, and it will self-level.
